More than
100 people used to squeeze into this "rondavel" on a Sunday
to hear the gospel. After the heavy rains in January 2000, this structure
collapsed
This is about 50% of the congregation at Matsanjeni, which met with
a group of visitors from Piet Retief one Saturday in 1999 and which
led to a commitment from the DRC congregation in Piet Retief to become
involved with these people and their needs
After many
years of negotiating with the local "chief" in the Matsanjeni
area, a site was given to the church and with the help of the congregation
in Piet Retief, a new structure has been erected. Plans are being made
to build the walls within the near future
The completed church building at Matsanjeni. Matsanjeni means "the place of the dry bones" and on the day when the new building was officially opened, the sermon came from Ezekiel 37:4 & 5: "Then he said to me, 'Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the LORD!
This is what the Sovereign LORD says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life."
